I am really excited for the Pinterest Challenge over at Young House Love. I first saw these DIY bookshelves on several sites and decided to make them for my kids rooms. It is simple pine that I got cut at Home Depot.
I made four book shelves and painted 2 white for my daughters room and made 2 in an awesome red color for my sons room. We hung my daughters shelves up with heavy duty screws.
I thought these would be perfect next to my sons bed. He has a book shelf in his closet but to have it on the wall would be even better for easy access to all his books.
My sons room has a mix of blue and red so I thought red against his creamy yellow walls would really pop.
This is where he keeps his books now on his night stand but I plan on putting up the shelf on that wall for better access.
I gave them one coat of paint and sanded a bit of the edges to distress them just a little.
They were really easy to build and my daughter loves hers. Here they are on her wall.
Her room reveal is next week so stay tuned and as they say HAPPY PINNING:)
